Posting first impressions here for the 1.8mm/40 deg version affixed to a Gatien Extra3D blade (no speed glue). Didnt expect the speed; sponge is very bouncy and dissipates energy very slowly, even in the 1.8mm version. The initial tackiness made it a bit slower, but the ball bounced as long/high as a glued mendoMP! There is a slight clicking sound, due to the tensioned topsheet. Medium heavy. Plenty of spin, again as much as the mendoMP. Able to chop, loop or drive. Throw angle is a bit higher than the mendo mp. It seems to lack the high end gears of the mendoMP, but I got this for a backhand rubber and it fits nicely. For this price it is a steal. 2 weeks later, tackiness has worn off, but spin has not diminished in any way. Great speed too and seems to have quite a few gears. Seems to be effective as a forehand rubber as well. Later: The contact with the tacky, shining parts of the top sheet produces a crackling sound. The tackiness seems to have worn away in patches, withe non-tacky areas appearing foggy and the tacky part shiny. This is contributing to the observed playing inconsistency. Also, temperature seems to have a profound effect - we played in a cold room and the sponge loses its bouncy characteristic. A few warm breaths and the bounciness reappears.
