Reviews of the Friendship/729 Bomb dwruck said this on March 28, 2008:
With the cork in this blade, it provides a lot of kick and spring, even with slower rubbers. If you play with fast rubbers, it may be a little difficult to control. I love the weight, as it's fairly light, and it gives me some power when looping with a spinny, slower rubber. It's also pretty good when chopping with pips, and I can even occasionlly hit with the pips.

This is a very good offensive blade. You can spend a lot more, but I don't think one can gain a lot. I have used this as an off the table fh topspin and bh chopping blade and it was a little too fast for that, but would be an excellent 2 wing looping blade from off the table and also good short game and close to the table play.

Good blade for medium fast and slow rubbers. Suitable for semi pros and ametures. The grip is thin and uncomfortable.
Cannot control chop the ball always. Not suitable for defensive game. megamanpro said this on April 26, 2008:
The yellow handle makes it easy to tell if the blade is yours or not. It is uncomfortable and hurts my fingers that is placed on the backside.

Great blade, perfect for loopers. Great springiness mid distance. Good dwell time and control and speed

This feels like a Dynasty Hinoki Carbon, but a notch slower. So it's about a squarely "OFF" blade. It has the same feel as the DHC so I barely had to adjust.
This is a great offensive blade with a balance of control. If you want more control on your attacks, this is a great choice. I'm just not a fan of the yellow handle. Ptou said this on August 5, 2009:
It is an oversize blade. This made rubbers I already owned unusable. Due to the size, the overall weight with rubbers is increased. Hits hard and consistently, with some vibration. The handle (flared) is very slim. I used sandpaper to refine the corners of the blade near the handle, for more comfort. Will try an overgrip to increase handle size. Overall is a good blade, great value for money. JimC said this on December 17, 2009:
for 18 bucks a really nice blade. Not my first choice for competition-I do better with a more flexible slower blade like a Btty Spark or Keyshot because I play more an allround game but this Bomb is a well made blade that is a good choice for a two winged looper or a counterhitter. I set one up with the Rapid Soft stuff and mid distance looping is well served with this. I might try one with something like Royal or Radical Pips too. I have lots of different bats mainly for training purposes. I rate this blade a "best buy".
It wasn't the most comfortable bat in my collection but its certainly not uncomfortable and I my hands are slightly larger than average or so mmerkel said this on February 20, 2010:
I love the feedback I get from this blade. I only used it so far in one practice session, but it really feels great. Good speed on off the table loops, great on loop drives.
Now that I played with it for a few months, I really like the blade. There is a nice kick mid distance, but also enough control to take speed off an incoming drive/smash. Initially I had problems hitting the sweet spot, since it isn't as big as in a carbon blade. But the difference in bounce if you miss the sweet spot is not so great that it will make you lose the point. I actually won quite a few points hitting the ball near the edge of the blade. Great value for the price. nukii said this on May 1, 2010:
i personally cut all my new woods in the same form and use all my rubbers in various combinations :) Cutting the wood is very easy job with a very thin 1-2 mm saw and its new form is as original. After cutting of course brush with sandpaper and the effect is very good IK said this on September 6, 2010:
Bomb is suprising blade. thanks to cork core (I suppose), it has a kick of his own. this special cork + balsa construction gives much control than it is expected for OFF wood. because of its kick control is lesser in slow shots such as chop (but it's not bad either because of other properties), but excels in faster shots for which this blade is clearly made. trajectory of ball and feeling and everything is like you have ALL+ wood in hand - except the ball is faster like with any other true OFF blade. this is unique feel. this blade is somehow sensitive to rubber you stick on it, which means that not every rubber will get along vell with it. but in case of a good 'marriage' with rubber. playing with the Bomb is equisite :) Tek101 said this on October 26, 2010:
let me start off by saying this is a great blade. I am sort of an all around off the table looper who is defensive minded with his back hand.
The control of this blade is outstanding. the dwell time on the blade is enough that you can punch back or block back any amount of spin with little effort. I would recommend using soft sponges on this blade because what I have found is if you use a harder sponge on your backhand side it is really hard to play up close to the table. But, it plays fantastic away from the table and has no troubles putting spinney precise shots onto the table. The cork core gives it that added pop in your shots but has the control of an All Around blade. Skipnote said this on August 7, 2011:
everyone who knows what they are doing has commented on how nice it feels. The handle feels abit thin and rough, and I do have some raquet envy, maybe because this blade was so cheap, but I can not argue with my results. I am progressing pretty quickly according to my coach, and i can recommend this to any basement hack like me who is looking to go legit...

this is a very good blade that can produce all types of shots while providing great feel. pros: - amazing touch (wondering if it's b/c of the cork layer) - speed is good but not great - control is very good, especially with chopping - good weight balance - inexpensive price cons: - horrible handle (way too thin - requires grip tape or those rubber handle condoms) - edges aren't finished (but it's easy to sand it yourself) dima said this on September 14, 2011:
The blade itself is pretty good, and the cork core makes it a bit lighter too. The only issue I have with it is the uncomfortable handle. I got mine as Anatomic, but it is still narrower than it should be. (Probably even worse on flared.) It's definitely possible to get used to it, but if you put heavy/thick rubber on it, it'll be top heavy and harder to hold comfortably due to the thin handle. wmage said this on January 15, 2012:
Very good and fast blade. Blade is soft, as for me this blade with Butterfly Chop 1.5 mm - good for attack and loop.

BOMB is a HIT! It was recommended at OOAK and I bought it last summer. On offence, euro style loops and lots of spin even with red 1.5 chinese rubbers. Got gears if you need them. On defence, yes you can defend with lps. Its just slow enough to do this. Use no sponge any cheap pip will be effective because its hard 7 ply. great feel, slight vibes, for chop blocking and small wrist action strokes at the table. Good depth on pushes and great to HIT with the lps!!! Can lift backspin too.Farther away chopping is excellent. Its got some spring and you need it from 10 feet back for control and consistency. If you like chop with lps and tempt with a high float and then fast block with the FH, you cant ask for a better blade! reef said this on May 16, 2012:
for such a price is very good blade. has a high throw and a great touch. I think this is one of the best blades to get started. not a lot of blades play well with Chinese hard rubbers (DHS, Globe) but this one is exelent for them. I did not like the handle but.....still pretty good blade to try

Can play the short game well with slow chop blocks from close to the table but gets harder to block the fast low loops, have to step back.
Its effective in game situations, loops are spinnier and easier to pull off, hits faster, fast lp hits can be easier to pull off. The extra speed makes all shots more effective and pressures the opponent. Give up a little control to get more effective attacks I actaully can use this in place of my R2. Hard, little vibes and easy to go on the attack. Good for OX LP. edit: pushing backspin balls is hard work and easily taken for granted compared to blocking or chopping topspin...the bomb pushes backspin much more easily and helps with control by adding speed/spin to slower balls which would tend to land short of the net if using a slow blade. The result is deep pushes are easier to do but there is always a tradeoff. edit2: no trade off...just practice blocking hard top spins at the table with ox lp ...forget def blades, go with as fast as you can handle! prent73 said this on November 11, 2012:
Very good feeling of control and speed together ! A must have in terms of straight attack style !

Veoma lagano drvo, barem tako djeluje u ruci sto mu daje fenomenalnu osjecajnost. Izrazito balansirano izmedu kontrole i brzine.

Not as fast as I expected it to be but the control is amazing. I used Chinese rubbers, Mark V and Donic Vario on this one. It does not produce the same pace when those same rubbers are used in my old DHS PF4 032 wood blade. The loops, however, are consistent and I can place them wherever I want. Lifting heavy chops is also easier on the Bomb. Still, you need to have a lot of stamina when playing against a good blocker. Compared to the Yinhe/Galaxy Children's Carbon blade, the Bomb is just a tad faster, IMHO. But it compensates this with more spin and greater control. Overall, a great purchase for its price.
