Description of Stiga Hybrid Wood NCT
STIGA Hybrid Wood NCT: Changing the Way the Game is played. We have seen dramatic changes in our sport over the past few years: scoring changes, ball size changes, the introduction of timeouts, and now the elimination of speed glue. STIGA is confident that they can stay on the cutting edge of technology to ensure that these changes do not detract from your enjoyment of the game. To do this, STIGA has created WRB handles, Oversize and Tube blades, ACS, Mega-Tension, and Nano Technology rubber, and most recently, Synergy Tech rubber and Aqua Energy water-based glue—all this to ensure precision, power, and most of all, enjoyment when you head out to the table. Now, the STIGA Hybrid Wood ties it all together! This nine-ply all- wood blade uses STIGA's latest technologies, and is designed for the new era that begins with the ITTF speed glue ban in 2008. It features a specially-treated surface and STIGA's latest nano technology. These ingredients increase the life of the blade and help you hit the ball harder. The STIGA Hybrid Wood has been carefully constructed to perfectly complement STIGA's Almana Sound Synergy Tech, Neos Synergy Tech, Neos Sound Synergy Tech, and Innova Ultra Light Synergy Tech rubber sheets and bring the performance of these rubber sheets to the maximum level. The new era of table tennis has started at STIGA; has it with you? The STIGA Hybrid Wood is ready for 2008, as are STIGA's Synergy Tech rubber and Aqua Energy water-based glue. |

Reviews of the Stiga Hybrid Wood NCT Stefan Arak said this on February 8, 2010:
Absolutely amazing blade. Been using it for a year now and have learned to love every inch of it. Spidy said this on March 9, 2010:
If you don't mind the weight (mine was 99g), this blade is excellent. This would definitely be my dream blade if it was 20g lighter. Feedback, dwell time, control, and speed are all in perfect harmony to my taste at least. This blade is rated 95g by Stiga, but mine was 4g heavier. This is not as fast as BTY Maze or Donic Waldner Black Devil, maybe closer to Yasaka Ma Lin Extra Off. This has also less dwell time than Maze, but more than Black Devil. Sweet spot is very large, control is great, handle feels very good (FL) and I have had no problems with warping like there has reportedly been with Ebenholz NCT VII.
Bear in mind that I have been using very light rubbers with this blade, e.g. Dawei Inspirit Quattro UL SV35 and 729 Super FX Lightening. These rubbers are not the fastest on the market (the Lightening was downright slow), so this blade will obviously play a lot faster with tensors and other faster rubbers. However, to keep the weight down, I believe this blade would benefit most from the Quattro UL max H42 (Power) on forehand and either max H40 or 2.0mm H42 on backhand, depending on your style. Stiga Innova Ultra Light SynergyTech would also be a good choice, only more expensive. If you play pips-out, try the 729 802-40 2.0mm H35 with this blade, it weighs only 28g cut to shape. Mine is 92g. Forehand Bryce Speed FX 2.1mm, Backhand Roxon 450 2.0mm. Control is amazing but when hitting hard is very powerful. Perfect Cpen weapon for powerful forehand game and some rpb. With Roxon 450, my rpb hitting is accurate and powerful too. Anonymous said this on November 8, 2010:
i think schlager is faster and heavier then hybrid wood :o) Stiga Hybrid NCT said this on February 15, 2011:
This is the fastest blade I have played with. I played with this with tenergy 05 on both sides and in the right hands this is a match made in heaven! RANGER said this on May 20, 2011:
Is a perfect weapon 95g is heavy, but very consistent and powerful, you can control and guide the ball easily, vibration free without lost the feel, is some strange because is really fast and controlled at the same time.
You can smash hard from close to very far of the table. You need time to get out all their potential and love it, not for beginners. Perfect combination with all Stiga boost (best tx), calibra LT an sound, Magna II TC and Joola Phenyx (amazing combo, little heavy but wonderful). gomleksiz said this on June 11, 2011:
First of all, this is one of the best looking blades of all time.
I use Xiom Vega Pro on forehand and Vega Europe on backhand. It has a large head and it is a lot heavy.Mine was over 95 gr.Besides the handle of the blade is too light for the head part i guess.Thats why i downsized the head part of the blade using a sand paper. My blade feels more balanced for me now. It has a large sweet spot and the control is awesome.I use max rubbers on both sizes. The best part of the blade is,it absorves all the vibrations. That was my biggest problem about my previous blade. GKall-off said this on April 8, 2012:

Very good in control in a speed blade, although not speedy as sardius, but it can make up your plays getting better and better, i'm used it with OptimumMP rubber....it's very excellent combination ! Shrikant Bhosale said this on April 15, 2012:
This blade is really fast but if you use right rubbers on this blade it will give you more control & it will be a good weapon for you. I am using this blade from 18th August 2008 & from 2 years I am using DONIC "Acuda S1" for forehand & DONIC "Coppa X1 (Gold)" for backhand. & its really helping me a lot. shrikantbhosle said this on April 15, 2012:

The price now is about 150US$, my friend just bought it, but regarding the high quality, its equal. The quality more than the others expensive blades. Gong Xiu said this on April 18, 2012:
Better than rosewood and ebenholz i feel so far...my friend whom played with rosewood VII wanted to barter with my Hybridwood, I said NO ofcourse! although this one is cheaper, but its a greatest blade i ever had. Hahahaha... donald said this on April 19, 2012:

its an amazing blade. good combination between speed and control. I am using yasaka rakza 7 on FH and BTY sriver on BH. TTmaster1 said this on July 1, 2012:
It has a very good loopingabilitiy you can loop the ball very easily :D I personally prefer playing med-hard rubbers on it soft isn't just that good it plays way more better with harder rubbers and chinese rubbers!! You CAN DO LITERALLY EVERYHING WITH this blade truly amazing ;D
Hozze said this on July 22, 2012:
I'm using this with the Chinese penhold handle. Very fast but maintains excellent control. Stiff and hard, but not excessively so. Have tried it with a variety of rubbers and it feels quite good with most levels of hardness, although I prefer medium rubbers on it.
Really only has two negatives: One is the price, which I personally think is a minor problem. After all you don't have to replace it every month or so like with your rubbers. The weight can be more problematic however. Stiga rates it at 95 grams, but most of the ones I've heard of has been closer to 100g. I specifically asked my retailer to get Stiga to send the lightest one they had in stock and ended up with a 93 gram blade. Not bad, but don't expect them to get lighter than that. UPDATE: After struggling a little with the head-heavy feel I got with heavier rubbers I've now found a combo which are lightweight and balanced enough but also fast and spinny enough to really make the blade shine (Haifu Whale II National - red sponge on FH and Yasaka Rakza 7 Soft on BH). I've consequently learnt to appreciate the blade even more. It does show that the weight can be a problem though and might limit your choice of rubbers somewhat. I'm not sure you'll like it if you stick a pair of Tenergy 05's or something like that on it. Amilcar said this on November 27, 2012:
My c-penHybrid Woodis very powerfull allwood blade.Less woody feel then my avalox BT777.Quality bladeis factory pre-sealed with NCT.Simply amazing.

A great blade to learn technique and control; however, the advanced player will likely desire more speed and control.
Overall... really just a blade for those who haven't tested some of the better brands: Butterfly, Xiom, DHS Raden said this on May 5, 2013:
I don't think this is the fastest blade out there ,but That's not a bad thing. What this is is the most playable blade out there. This has the perfect feel, where I can tell exactly what the ball is doing on the rubber. Fantastic for loops, smashes and touch. don't listen to mtg679, some people need to buy a brand name so they can identify themselves with others. i have tried many +$200 blades and this is my choice. If this blade had a Butterfly label and price tag of $300, many Butterfly enthusiasts would say this is the best Butterfly ever.
don't let weight fool you. When i weighed my blade and saw 99gms, I said uh-oh. But when I play with it, it's never been an issue. Great balance |
