GOLD also boasts very high quality though which can be accepted by professional players. Chinese Penhold The rounded head and Chinese-type handle of ATHENA CP is focused on speedy close-to-table offense/block strategy. Aggressive play with close-to-table topspin becomes more powerful with ATHENA CP. Its thickness helps block to be effective counter attack with high speed and super precision. Japanese Penhold The long squared head and Japanese-type handle of ATHENA JP is focused on all-range topspin strategy. The powerful shot from any distance makes table tennis more dynamic. Reviews of the Xiom Athena RSM Platinum vollet said this on January 9, 2010:
This blade is simply amazing. I have tried may J Pen blades lately, including Cypress Max, Cypress-R, Cypress Alpha S and R and this Xiom makes all of them look like a cheap blade, including Cypress Max. The Hinoki used is very dense and perfect. The feeling is great and enable total control. Even the sweet spot seems to be enlarged once even when I hit off the center in a rally, the feeling and the shot are very consistant. The days of trying other blades are certainly over. I have even bought a second one that I will vacuum seal and keep for the time my current Xiom gets worn out. It is worth spending the extra bucks to get a real J Pen blade. Congratulations to Xiom folks.
