It is important to take care of your rubber to maintain its spin characteristics. Without proper care, your rubber can lose a significant amount of spin and even become slick like an anti-spin rubber.

It is recommended that you clean your rubber after each playing session.

A lot of people don't bother with any special cleaning products. Simply using water can do the job fine.

  1. Wash your hands with soap. While this is an optional step, it's recommended since you will be rubbing the rubber surface with your hand, so you want to remove the natural oils from your palm.
  2. Wipe the rubber surface with your wet palm. Do this until all the dust and dirt is off.
  3. Wave the racket dry. No need to pull out a hair dryer, just wave the racket in the air until it's completely dry.
  4. Cover the rubber with a plastic protective sheet. Make sure the rubber is completely dry before covering it. Having a water drop trapped between the rubber and plastic sheet can cause increased tackiness on that spot, somewhat temporarily, but sometimes permanently.

Warning: Some cleaning products contain alcohol and can actually dry out your rubbers, shortening the life of your rubber.
