Mid-Long Serve (Medium Long)

The mid-long (or medium long) serve is a serve that aims the second bounce on the receiver's side to hit very close to the end of the table, sometimes bouncing on the table, sometimes falling past the table. This is effective because the receiver will be left guessing whether the ball will fall off the end of the table (and will thus be able to loop the ball) or whether it will bounce twice and must be played over the table. This uncertainty will often lead to errors. Also, mid-long serves cannot be flipped effectively.
