Description of TSP Curl P-1R
This Curl P-1R has the longest and softest pimples, which produce very deceptive spins and wobble after bouncing. This long pimple is very difficult to play against. Although this rubber produces unpredictable effects for your opponent, you will need to be fairly competent to control it. The classic TSP long pimple rubber; the thin pimples are made of soft rubber which are capable of producing the most dangerous defensive strokes. Unlike frictionless rubbers, Curl P1 R gives players the chance of bringing in their own chop and float variations. |

One of the hardest LP to use but with good storke your opponent will have a hard time dealing with this pips.
haggisv said this on April 3, 2008:
One of the most versatile and highly regarded long pips, used right up to the top levels of TT. Proper strokes and good technique makes this pip one of the most dangerous and deceptive ones around... the ability to manipulate spin is outstanding. It's effective both in close and away from the table, but excells away from the table. porbably the most durable long pip I've ever come accross.

OMG I hate playing against this rubber, it must be the closest thing to anti pips out there now, it a great rubber, nul for attacking though. Almost doesnt react to spin

That pip rules!
You can defende every power loop with a lot of spin! Try it!! NiTTaKu said this on February 13, 2009:
It's the Alpha and Omega on long pips, so versatile it takes a long time to tame and master. Gives massive chops away from the table against powerloops and not too bad to attack with if you find the correct blade angle. Perfect for smashing loops just after the bounce.

Hard to control, but if you can get it to land on the table it will be very very difficult for your opponent to return.
Joo Se Hyuk makes this look easy to use, but don't be fooled. It takes a long time to get used to it. Joo Se Hyuk said this on November 25, 2009:
This is very nice rubber used by all skill levels of Long pimp users. Even the highly regarded Joo se Hyuk uses it. It is hard to control because of its speed but once you get used to it it can become a very lethal weapon Dan said this on December 1, 2009:
I use these LP myself (I play "modern-defense-style), in a "love-hatred" relationship... When I play regularly and am in good shape, I feel my LP are just so deadly ; but when I don't play often or come back from long pause, this P1-R can be a nightmare for his own user... :D This rubber is very unforgiving, and requires good physical shape, practice, and technique. On the other hand, if you fill these 3 criteria, the backspin and deception on long chops is just incredible, even when the opponent tries to fool you with a low spin loop. Moment I like playing with this rubber : at the start of a match, the attacker sending me a low spin loop on my LP, then smashing next hit... on the net :D However, the spin reversal, and overall chop quality, depends a lot on technique. With Curl P1-R you HAVE TO do a real chopping move, using wrist, getting down on legs and so on. If you just "let the blade", you're busted. Conclusion : probably the LP with greatest potential, but requires amounts of skills and practice many can't have. I really don't recommend it if you're not playing at least on a 3 times per week basis Anonymous said this on December 1, 2009:
i changed my opinion, once i used this rubber. It's tonnes better than i thought amelnik said this on March 16, 2010:
talk about your hard to play with pips......but once uve mastered them....a favourite of pros, but if your looking for an easy chopping fix....look elsewhere
A FULL chop is required. and in order to perform a full chop you must constantly be in the right position to recieve a shot. If you are caught in the wrong position.....the ball will not land on the table Anonymous said this on July 13, 2010:
I've been using the TSP Curl P1-R for some time now and honestly, once you're used to them it will become almost impossible to change. When I changed to FL II I felt as if I had lost a great deal of control. The long pips have amazing reversal, decent attack capabilities and deception. My advice is to start out defending with these due to the steep learning curve and the fact they play like no other long pimples I've used before. sumanth said this on August 17, 2010:
that is one hell of a rubber, produces devastating spins with a little effort. Not as diffucult to control as mentioned earlier.Best effects seen when used in defense. vanjr said this on October 8, 2010:
One of the best LP for chopping. Only other one that may be as good is feint long 2. You can get any ball back with this rubber. It can attack with sponge-but its strength is off the table chopping.
Edit: I am not sure why others think this is a difficult rubber to use. It is very predictable. I do try other stuff, but nothing is as good as this. I did not find it difficult to learn to use it. GrumpyJoe said this on June 16, 2011:
Not for the feint of heart. Not easy to use. But, when you master this LP it will give you the feel of a master chopper. Not for close to the table blocking. Can do it but not as a habit. Don't get lazy with this LP because it will make you look stupid. Dedication is what this LP asks for.

Used it for one session and I really liked this pips! My chop stroke became more accurate. Contrary to other review, I find this rubber easy to use. Also good for hitting.
Mesiento86 said this on December 24, 2011:
For me one of the best long pimples rubbers.
I have been tested (OX,1.3,1.5,1.7mm) it with Butterfly Defence AlphaII and with Joo Se Hyuk and it's awesome. With OX rubber you can block all the balls. 1.3-1.5 it's good for chopping at mid distance and allows you to attack some balls. marc said this on January 12, 2012:
this is very powerfull weapon. But you have to earn it. Practice with a robot with wonderfull result but then came to a game and it is different. Be there at the right poistion, the right technique and you will be in to be hated by others !! Anonymous said this on February 26, 2012:
Can this LP be used with Butterfly Cofferlait ALC? ( offensive blade ) Silva said this on May 10, 2012:
Wow this rubber is not easy to master, i was using Joola Orca which was really good with great control. Comparing the two rubbers, the TSP is much softer than the Joola LP. at my current skill level, i think i should stick with the Joola... not recommended for first time LP user. Joo Se Hyuk makes it look easy tho! jacob said this on May 16, 2012:
Getting the action right is really difficult as this rubber is a little quicker than normal lp's.But one thing is for certain u'd never want to be playing against it. powerlefty said this on August 4, 2012:
Very difficult to control for the user. On the other hand it is very difficult for the other player to control as well. May be the best long pips out there for those with great technique and experience with this sort of rubber.
mturk said this on November 23, 2012:
I have used tsp curl p1r for over 6 months now, and I am very impressed. I play as a modern defender, and these pips are a joy to play with. I play with .6mm sponge on a btfly ranunculus blade. I can chop, hit, block, it does it all....with practice of course. Sends back massive amounts of spin. Allows you to attack backspin serves and pushes.
