Description of Donic Desto F3 Big Slam
We recommend DONIC DESTO F3 BigSlam to the following players. DONIC DESTO F3 BigSlam is recommended for players who have previously used speed glue and for those who value sound and outstanding ball control qualities rather than maximum speed. BigSlam will be a popular choice once speed glue is banned. Available: in Red and Black - 1.8mm / 2.0mm / MAX The sound of speed gluing has been captured in F3 BigSlam rubbers: F3 BigSlam generates a loud crack when you hit the ball! This is the loudest DESTO FORMULA rubber that DONIC has ever produced. DONIC DESTO F3 BigSlam reproduces the loud sound that you got during the classic times of speed gluing. However, this rubber does not require speed glue and must not be speed glued! The distinctive sound has been firmly and permanently incorporated into the rubber. BigSlam is somewhat softer, but not significantly slower than its successful sibling DESTO F3. It has the same amazing simple ball control, but gives the same effect as optimum speed glue. Whether you prefer DESTO F3 or DESTO F3 BigSlam is a matter of taste - or, should we say, of sound preference. |

Reviews of the Donic Desto F3 Big Slam hymm said this on March 25, 2008:
See my review of regular Desto F3. The main difference between this and the regular is sound. Makes a much more pronounced speed glue sound. The sponge is orange instead of yellow and may be a touch harder. I've just started using this rubber so I can't comment on durability

I have the F3 BigSlam max on my BH. It definitely has the loud sound that they advertise. Every person I've played against has mentioned the nice cracking sound after a couple of BHs. This rubber is great if you like to loop your backhand. Great spin and excellent control; gives me the confidence to loop just about everything. It's pretty good for serves - not tacky, but the sponge generates good mechanical spin. Blocks kick off the sponge well, but you have to remember to close the face so it doesn't fly off the end of the table. It may lack a little power at mid-distance, but you can get LOTS of spin from back there.

My favorite Donic rubber so far. The built-in speed glue effect is actually somewhat decent, probably one of the best I've used (not like the real thing though). The only downside I can see is that the sponge appears to be just a little bit softer than the regular F3 which slows it down a smidgen. Oh yeah... The sound is great! Just an absolutely wonderful rubber overall.

great soft rubber, not very different from energy extra
maybe 2% slower good sound and a lot of gears people say it has no spin and is slow, that is crap! you got to get used with these soft rubbers like enrgy extra a high trow and best for off the bounce looping style, great for punchblocks with hard blades great for controled looping! ptou said this on May 1, 2009:
It is undoubtly softer and slower than F3. My old and worn out F3 is still faster than the F3 Big Slam.
Surely better on the backhand, but a raquet with two Big Slams is so light, that speed can be easily achieved with... raquet speed! The fastest forehand loop I can produce has tons of spin and still lands on the table. However, top speed is not there: the ball may still come back... Anonymous said this on July 15, 2009:
Soft with very good control. Spinny, good for close-in play, quick attack, slow to medium speed loops. Very long dwell time. Good spin on serves, good control for serve returns. I don't care what it sounds like, but it does have a rather loud crack when hitting topspin shots. Lasts a couple of moths before it gets too soft. New rubber feels very good, but that feeling wears off in the first 30 - 50 hours. Then gradually softens until it need to be replaced. Overall, a lot of fun to use. Too bad it only lasts as long as the proverbial snowball. ianworz said this on September 22, 2009:
Great backhand rubber, good for blocking and looping. You can really load up on spinny shots with this rubber and it's not bad for flat hits either.

Great control, very enjoyable to play with. Not too fast, but when you bust it...fantastic!!! foz said this on November 9, 2009:
Great rubber for drive looping, has loads of control and great touch recieving heavy spin serves, i have used it for 18 months now & its the only speed glue effect rubber that i have tried (believe me, ive tried most) that does what it says on the cover. sounds great on my joola kool balsa blade & feels like its loaded with glue, i love it! only downside is that it soon deteriorates, edges break easy and slows up after about 3 months. im on my 7th sheet now! dont care tho, i like it that much. my tip- use with a fast balsa blade & max sponge.

best bh rubber ive ever tried. consistent. great for both counterlooping and opening against backspin. very light too. only problem is that it doesnt last long Anonymous said this on March 28, 2010:
put on a fast blade to make up some speed great spin very soft the only problem is looping from a distance other than that great control and spin DestoDave said this on August 24, 2010:
~ 2200 player that has been using Desto F3 for more than 10 yrs on my BH. Tried many others including some of the Joola soft rubbers, but they didn't last nearly as well. This rubber is one of the best for your BH. Big Slam is more like the original F3, while increased the tension in the regular F3 a couple of years ago. Can't go wrong with this, but must play with it in Max thickness...as 2.0 is too slow. Anonymous said this on October 10, 2010:
this rubber was invented by god. it is absolutely perfect in every way imaginable. although, the black doesnt last very long. get red. ive had it since march/april and its still working great destodave said this on October 18, 2010:
update on my previous review of Big Slam. I've played with this rubber for years and it's good for looping off my BH, and blocking. Have noticed one weakness with it recently though...I practice regularly with another 2200 player that has short pips on his BH and when I push the ball to his BH he can attack it easily. When he plays against other players that have Chinese rubber or rubber that has more spin than Big Slam he can't attack when they push to his BH. As a result I may switch to Baracuda as this definitely has more spin. If you play with Baracuda make sure you play with 2.0 rather than max as the 2.0 seems to play better.

A very loud-sound rubber. It gives me a very good feel and cricking sound! But it wears out so easily Anonymous said this on October 20, 2011:
great rubber, perfect for loopy play on half distance. This rubber gets better the longer you have it :) hall said this on January 18, 2012:
use it on kreanga powerspin and it is nice for everything, i prefer loop , but is not problem when u want or need to chop.. dont like for bloking because is too soffffttt, but with practise that is not problem :S... have it 8m and 5x 3h training and it needs to be replaced.. jbgwtf said this on March 17, 2012:
my desto last longer than acuda s2 :)
for strong spin u must have good contact with ball.. very nice for bloking, looping needs more power for strong smashing kpax said this on May 4, 2012:
I love it
excellent balance in speed, control and spin. I love this soft sponge, makes strokes to feel much more better. Very very good rubber MTFC said this on May 14, 2012:
Went to this rubber on friends advice. This rubber has back hand writen all over it. Control and block are fantastic and when you hit with it the sound and feel is very addictive LOL. Very poor for generating backspin pushes / chops and can be attacked quite easily from this position. Great for attacking and hitting. If you want to generate realy strong spin then this is NOT your rubber. Most easiest rubber I've ever played with. I've played with this rubber for 6 months (4 tournaments 3 leagues) and realise I need more spin for my game. I will miss the ease of blocking attacking shots on my backhand and the best tensor sound on the market. |
