Description of Palio Blitz
Designed for Chinese (fast attack) backhand, but also very suitable for the forehand side. Better durability topsheet, very grippy, higher throw than Macro ERA. Very porous sponge. |

I have the red 47.5 degree max thickness version. I played about 4 hours with this rubber today and my thoughts are that it plays very similar to the Macro Era in 47.5 degree hardness. Supposedly the throw angle is a bit higher than the PME, but I was unable to notice the difference probably due to my skill level not being as high.
Control in the short game is better than PME. The ball rebounds softer off of the rubber and doesn't pop up as high as normal tensors. Looping and counter looping is similar to PME, which is what I loved most about that rubber. The ball just keeps landing on the other side of the table with fast pace and heavy topspin. You can still pull off crazy stuff with this rubber. Serving feels ok. I felt like I could get better spin using my Neo Hurricane 3. But if you have a high skill level you can probably get heavier spin than I can. If you liked the Macro Era, you will not be disappointed by the Blit'z. I will update this review as I practice more with this rubber. vanjr said this on July 16, 2010:
Very nice looping and counter looping rubber. Works well off the table. High throw. Pushes may be hard to control. Serves OK, but nothing spectacular. If you look off the table looping it is a very nice choice for a moderate price.

Nice mid-distance rubber, can endure mid-distance attack and loop it back easily. It is also good at high ball throwing, with a lots of spin and stability. Generally it is an expert of mid-distance all round attack but less flexible for close to table attack. (you might found it too bouncy for close to table skills) AndySmith said this on October 1, 2010:
Another really nice Palio / German sponge rubber. Comparing to Macro Era, I think it's got a grippier topsheet, and not quite as bouncy for the short game. I found it much easier to block and push over the table. Great speed on loops - really easy to lift heavy chop.
Quality is excellent - just as good as any other Tensor, if not better. Amazing value for money. Consider it a worthwhile upgrade to PME, but with better short-game control. Anonymous said this on October 7, 2010:
Very good rubber for topspin attack and blocking. I played with Palio Macro ERA 47.5 before and found that Blitz gives me a better balance of speed & control. Blitz seems to have more spin than PME 47.5. I also played with Tenergy 05 on one side of my TBS and found that Blitz is nearly identical with and have more consistency than T05. Short game is also better than T05 and PME 47.5 after I got used to the bounce. Serves are deceptively spinny. At times, I thought my serves did not have enough spin, but opponents' returns would go out of table. This is definitely a good upgrade from PME 47.5 and the right rubber for my style (two-wings topspin attack). J35 said this on April 9, 2011:
Very fast rubber with good control. Use it on mt FH on a Senkoh 85 1ply. Plays well at medium distance and is good for smashes, block's and fast loops. It also chops quite well but is a bit bouncy. Worth the money it costs. Tried it on BH but was to fast for my likings. Prefear a chinese spinny rubber instead. jeff_attc said this on April 24, 2011:
USATT Rating: 1801
Total Set-up weight: 184g Blade: Avalox P700 ST (93g) FH: Palio Blitz Black MAX (~45.5g cut) FH: Palio Blitz Red MAX (~45.5g cut) Glue: Butterfly Free Chack Palio Blitz Physical Properties The sponge is white and porous (Tenergy like). The sponge does not feel as hard as the listed 47.5 degrees (unlike JOOLA X-plode, which feels like its advertised 50 degrees). The black sheet has a nice shine to it, while the red sheet is transparent to where you can see the pips. Compared to JOOLA X-plode, the pips are larger and spaced further apart. The topsheet is completely non-tacky; the plastic protection sheets (non-adhesive type) I have do not stick to them. The rubbers have the nice Chinese character for electricity (dian/pronounced dyen) right next to the brand name :) Uncut Sheet weight: 65g Cut Sheet weight: 45.5g Sheet dimensions: 16.9cm x 16.9cm Sponge Thickness: MAX Sponge density: 0.2276g/cm^2 Throw: Medium Low Loop/Counter Palio Blitz is a fast rubber. This rubber makes a nice click sound when it's hit right. Several of my club-mates have described this rubber as having a more "natural feel" when looping. By this I think they mean that they can feel the ball. Lots of tensors/ spring sponges have a tendency to mute the feeling of the ball. Blitz will not mute the feeling. When reading about this rubber's spin capabilities , some people have claimed that this rubber is as spiny as Barracuda, which is supposedly a spiny as Tenergy. I found that this rubber is not spectacular when it comes to spin. This rubber still has good spin, but it does not give you more spin than you put into your stroke - at least not like Tenergy or Barracuda. This rubber does however give you more speed than you put in your stroke. When countering balls stay low and have a flat trajectory, when looping, balls have a low arc and are fast. Service Blitz keeps balls low and has good spin when serving. Push Blitz is a bouncy on short touch shots. On long pushes this rubber is not as forgiving; if your paddle angle is not correct pushes tend to go off the edge of the table. ------------- 07/04/10 After Hitting with it more today I have gotten more used to the throw angle. Long pushes are now very low, flat, and fast. For short pushes as long as you keep the ball on the topsheet and not let it sink into the sponge, balls can be placed very short. ------------- -Flip Block Since this rubber is fast and has a medium hard sponge, there is not a lot of dwell time. This is good for blocking. This rubber is not spin sensitive- Ball goes in, ball goes out; the ball does not sink and stay in the rubber allowing your opponent's spin to take full effect. EDIT 04/23/11 After roughly 75 hours of practice and drilling I managed to bubble the topsheet on my FH. I'm disappointed that the Blitz gave out so soon, but it could be a manufacturing problem, but coming from ESN I doubt that. Jeff(ATTC) quaeppchen said this on June 10, 2011:
Blitz plays much different to Macro era 47.5.
It feels much harder, more spinny, more like Tenergy 05 than Macro Era 47.5, but with more dynamic. ayoushinoki said this on July 6, 2011:
This is my first foray into tensors, after having used Chinese tacky and Japanese rubbers. It took me about 8 to 10 hours of determined practice and adjustments to finally discover Blitz's prowess: awesome power, high spin, with emphasis on speed. After getting used to it, short game over the table is good. Great for loops, drives, hits. Blocks against topspin attacks is a dream come true...I love to see the surprise on my sparring partner's face! The ball trajectory is low and fast. After about 40 hours of play, the edges are still pretty good with very little breaks (no edge tape). Am enjoying it! Stoyo said this on September 29, 2011:
This rubber fitted me perfectly, stiff blade with medium hardness fast rubbers. Typical european rubber i'd say, doesn't forgive mistakes and needs a lot of training to use it properly. Excels in speed and has also good spin capabilities. Better use the sponge and not brush the ball because the rubber can't hold the ball well enough with this technique. The arc of the spins are quite flat because of the speed so beware! Not that good for close to table play! Better be used by mid-far distance players.
The hitting is perfect with this rubber, i couldn't use flat strokes in my game as i am a spin based player and dont give much attention but with this setup i can hit any ball with confidence. Control is not bad, not good either, not a rubber that will forgive you when you make the mistake. I found the red being slightly less spiny, and a bit harder than the black. These rubbers better be used with more stiff - hard blades as i tried them with Instinct, a softer - slower blade and though there was more spin on my strokes but i lost part of control. I use the rubbers for about 3 months with average of 3-4 hours a week of non intense play (not actual training). The black, used on forehand, has some torn parts at the edges though i take care of it, but it playing characteristics are almost like new. The red on backhand is like brand new :). These rubbers need some hours of play before they start to play at their full potential so if you are disappointed at first shots check again after ~10 hours of play. Blades: Galaxy T-4, LKT Instinct Rubbers: Red-Black max Speed - 9.5 Spin - 8.5 Control - 7 Medium throw angle Average weight Medium hardness Average durability Overall 9/10 / Price ~30$ Would i buy this rubber again? Already searching for cheaper substitute. Not that good for close to table play! Better be used by mid-far distance players. DavidP said this on November 10, 2011:
I'm about a 900 (USATT) level club player and the Blitz is my first foray into faster, more expensive rubbers. I've been using it for a few weeks now and really enjoy it. It seems to have a great combination of control & speed, in that I can easily pat the ball around with a lesser player and also generate tons of spin & speed when getting serious.
Its tension serves it very well when pushing back backspin as the ball grip s & springs back with great control and speed. msilhanek said this on August 13, 2012:
This is the rubber I was looking for. Great speed, excellent spin, awesome controll. I was using Rakza 7 before Blitz and I was decided to settle down with that setup but just a few minutes with Blitz changed my mind. Blitz has much softer and more grippy top sheet comparing to Rakza and I can open the game much easier. Rakza's speed and power during an opened game is better but Blitz is very close. It suits my game much better because the moment when I open the game is criticall for me and Blitz brings me more confidence in this phase. I guess that pro players have no problems with strong chop balls like me so Rakza is better for them but Blitz is an excellent rubber for an amateur regional level player like me.
EDIT (08/2012): Durability is good but it isn't somehow long. It's just average. I practice 3-4 times every week for 2-3 hours and after 3 months the rubber condition is just about to throw it into trash. It plays well but there is no rubber which lasts ages if your style is agressive and play almost every day. BeaverMD said this on August 22, 2012:
Most of these reviews seem to be for the 47.5 degree version. I used max black on a TB ALC. It has good power and nice sound when hit properly. It's not a T05 substitute but I think it can be a budget version of Joola X-Plode.
I also tried the 42 degree version of Blit'z. I don't think this is a cheaper Acuda S2 or other mid-soft Tensor. It seems like they lowered the sponge hardness of the 47.5 but also lowered everything else most notably the catapult effect. It's still a decent rubber, just not as flashy as the 47.5 degree version. Megachemguy said this on October 27, 2012:
it's a decent rubber on both 42.5 and 47.5. The 42.5 is little bit more spin. Spin and speed is ok, worth for the money, not fantastic to say wow...
