Description of Palio CJ8000 Biotech 36-38° Japanese Sponge

Japanese sponge is lighter than normal version

Palio CJ8000 Biotech rubbers use the classic CJ8000 topsheet, fairly soft and half-tacky for a very nice blend of speed and spin. The new topsheet will pick a ball up off the table when pressed down onto it, but just for a moment.

Palio Biotech sponges place the topsheet under tension, giving an increase in speed, spin, and overall performance over untensioned rubbers. Enjoy the performance and the pleasing "click" sound when striking the ball, all for a great price!

The CJ8000 Biotech 36-38 degree rubber has a soft sponge for excellent looping performance close to the table. It makes a great two-sided looping rubber, especially for the backhand. It also makes a great forehand rubber for a harder blade or for anyone looking for spin and control for looping. Need a rubber to execute consistent loops for third ball attack or serve return? This is a great option.

Reviews of the Palio CJ8000 Biotech 36-38° Japanese Sponge

Review cyber1call said this on December 19, 2010:

Very nice control rubber but not too slow. Seems to work better on a blade with more flex. I'm using it on a fast stiff blade right now and it's a bit hard to loop closer to the table, but blocks and counterhits very well. The red has almost no tack after a few playing sessions. Black on the other hand seems to retain a slight tackiness. GREAT backhand rubber!

taking for fact that this is rubber that does not have highest gears, nor lightning speed, and if we are 'cool' with it, then one and only serious weakness of this rubber is bottoming out. so this is not FH rubber for hard drivers, but for loopers...yesss
Review ashishsharmaait said this on January 14, 2012:

I have this rubber in both 36-38 & 40-42 hardness. I use in on my T-11 on the backhand.

The 40-42 harness is too fast on a T-11 which by itself is a OFF+ blade.

The rubber starts out medium tacky and can lift the ball off the table freh out of the pack. After 3-4 hours of play and a wash the rubber loses its tackiness and behaves more or less like a Mark V (Classic).

Pros:
Very cheap, around $8 a sheet. Cheap substitute for people looking for a replacement of a Mark V (Classic). High throw angle, good control on 40-42 hardness version.

Cons:
Not as spinny after a few sessions as it is out of the pack. Slows down considerable after 20-25 hours (6.5/10 speed) of play but stays the same for a long time after that.

36-38 is a great BH rubber. 40-42 can be used on the FH if you are a looper who plays mid close to mid-distance.

Heavy energy absorbing japanese sponge is too slow, but excellent control and consistency. With oil booster is much better speed and spin.
The regular (chinese) sponge is lighter and less controll, but lively than japanese (without tuner oil).

This is a great backhand rubber for training.

It is a good cheap substitute for xiom vega europe (a bit slower and a bit less spinny). same throw.

It is the only rubber I know which is not low throw, is soft, is nontacky, and is cheap.

More in detail:

Throw: medium or medium-high (less than T05 and vega pro. Similar to Vega europe.). So you get a good arc.

hardness: soft. so you get a very good low gear. (And if you have a very hard blade, you also have a high gear, but not enough on forehand.)

Spin: good.

Speed: medium. good for backhand.

gears: not many. the rubber lacks a very high gear like tensors.

control: this rubber is non tacky, so it is not very spin sensitive. however, it seems more sensitive than LKT pro XP. ---- control in opening loops is great. Control in block is more difficult than LKT pro XP, because of the higher throw and greater spin sensitivity.

Weight: medium. (the sponge is soft but very dense).

Suggested blade: to use this rubber on forehand, you need a very fast blade. Ideal is a koto outer ply, like dhs pg3. also good on Galaxy T4. Also good on Dawei Wavestone.

I agree with cyber1call, it's terrific on the BH as blocking and countering are easy with this rubber, but also not bad as a FH rubber on a fast blade bringing some control and really nice loops. My red sheet was 69 grams uncut, the black sheet was a few grams less. I'd say the speed is a bit less than Mark V, spin is closer to Palio Macro Era (had both on the same blade when that comparison was made). It's very springy, when playing with the robot, I sometimes hit it off the back end using it on FH. When I switch to the Macro Era side (still on FH) and doing the same drill, I'll have more shots grazing or going into the net. The black sheet is a bit tackier and a lot spinnier than the red sheet.

This is one of the best tubber for speed glue. I love it.
Far, far better than any new generation tensor.

Speed glued cj8000/ T05
max speed: 10/9
gears: 10/5
spin: 10/10
opening loop: 10/6
counter: 10/8
forgivness: 10/5

FREE SPEED GLUE!!!

ottima gomma, super controllo e spin. appena arrivata era super appiccicosa che poi giocando si affievolisce. sembra una gomma europea.
