Reviews of the Palio Emperor Dragon Biotech

Review friendship said this on June 23, 2011:

This review is for both 40-42 and 42-44 degrees sponge hardness.

Emperor Dragon is maybe tackiest Palio rubber with biotech sponge. However, this is still semi-tacky. Because of good property of sponge mechanical spin is still significant. Biotech sponge delivers decent speed also, adding a few gears. Both versions give higher throw angle, and both are nice for serving.

42-44 degrees: this rubber is nice for looping, revards chinese looping technique although for euro-looping it is ok also. Controlable, high throwish and nice spinning. What is problem to me is counering because with too much power it becomes harder to control, therefore I must hold my stroke power in order not to shoot balls over the table.

40-42 degrees: this is peculiar animal. Softer sponge kicks in more, giving mechanical spin, yet tacky spin is present, therefore this rubber gives fusion of two significant spin. For me it is harder to control this fusion. Rubber is sensitive to incoming spin and when you're too passive against topspin (also when blocking) throw angle tends to go very high. Because of sensitivity to incoming spin, it is also harder to lift strong backspin.

This is preview review as I tested the rubber for maybe half hours of playing. After this rubber I played with Hidden Dragon which I've found much easier to control because of being significantly less sensitive to incoming spin. However this Emperor Dragon deserves more testing and getting used to playing with because it offers strong spin on both slow and fast balls. Interesting rubber.
