Description of Stiga Mendo MP
Molecular Power System: A conventional rubber often contains of a mixture of 25% synthetic rubber and 75% natural rubber. This yields weak links between the synthetic and natural rubber molecules. The rubber molecules are irregularly divided on the surface, which leads to decreased elastic friction and resiliency. STIGA Innovation - Stiga is the first in the world with MP rubber: a 50/50 mixture of natural and synthetic rubber. Provides the strongest molecular link possible for increased spin and speed. The rubber used by the World and Olympic Champion Liu Guoliang! Peter Karlsson, winner of many World titles, chooses Mendo MP! STIGA MP Rubber: Elasticity, Friction, Resiliency STIGA MP Rubber creates greater : Speed, Spin, Control. |

This is a really fine all-around rubber. It plays far better than most without speed glue.
With glue it gets almost silly-fast. This rubber pushes, serves, blocks, drives, and loops well. If you like soft, high-dwell or high throw rubbers, this isn't for you. If you are aggressive and play close to the table, it is worth a try. I've always though Stiga VASTLY under-rates this rubber. BACKHAND said this on March 25, 2008:
A very good blocking rubber. also has good spin.
Plays even better when glued. Fast blocks with loads of control. cole_ely said this on March 28, 2008:
This is one of the best euro/jap rubbers you'll find. Control is great given the speed, which approaches Bryce but doesn't quite get there. I have it as few gears, but that's good. I've always thought this rubber was very linear...you get out of it exactly what you put into it. This makes it very predictable. Short game is unmatched in a rubber of this speed.

Concur with most reviews here, this is an underrated rubber by all accounts. Speed rating is without speed glue. This rubber produces sharp spin and seems to blend well with softer blades. A good do-it-all rubber - chops, loops, serves and smashes well. Can be a bit hard to control in a loop-to-loop game and requires some adjustment to stroke angle (a more grazing action is needed). It can produce low-bounce loops making returns difficult, something I have'nt seen in other rubbers. This maybe explained by a flatter arc or a higher spin to speed ratio (when unglued). Compared to Mark V, counter smashing and looping backspin is easier. This rubber is supposed to soak up speed glue, have'nt tried that yet. Overall, a fine forehand rubber.
05/2008: Tried this with 1 layer of donic persson speed glue, and what a surprise! Lower gears went lower, higher ones went even higher. Maybe speed glue is the way to go for this rubber. Update 03/2009: Six months later, the speed glue effect is still evident, although it seems a tad slower in cooler days (could be the effect of voc's contracting). Have it now permanently fixed to a Gatien extra 3d blade. Smooth transition from looping to direct smashes. Dips fast on full force loops. hulkos said this on February 16, 2010:
Mendo MP is good rubber. I have it one year. Speed and Spin are very good. I love it! Regluing effect is nothing. I played without glue.

Man its a master of blockers. I had 2 yasaka mark Vs on A wrb master and was facing the problem of blocking the topspins but with this rubber i am able to overcome such problems. I recommend defensive players to use this rubbers Anonymous said this on July 25, 2010:
mendo mp with speed glue is the best! all my opponents used to tell me it's the fastest offensive rubber they have played against. quite difficult if you want controlled serves as the rubber is too fast. the top-sheet won't easily chip off when hit on the table and the grip takes some time to wear off. if you want to loop, you have to swing hard and you will be rewarded with a sharp, horizontal ball that skims just right above the net. if you don't, ball hits the net. mendo mp is a blocker's and hitter's delight, especially with speed glue. the throw angle of this so low that you have to loop very deep so that the ball will not end up in the net. rubber is definitely made for speed glue |
