Description of Galaxy Mars V2
High speed, high tension, high friction rubber that feels a lot like a Japanese product. Galaxy's Description (Translated): Mars: The Roman God of War. Fiery and fearless, Mars is the symbol of tremendous strength and power. "Mars" inverted rubber of Milky Way Co. uses a new rubber formula and optimized pimple structure to give the surface a greater friction coefficient. For players used to tacky rubbers, "Mars" provides a greater sense of stability in addition to the unstoppable power when looping. With its superb looping "feel", "Mars" will crush all opposition and bring you to victory! |

Reviews of the Galaxy Mars V2 destodave said this on October 25, 2010:
First off before I go any further let me say that TTXOnline sent me this rubber to write a review on. Rating level approx. 2150 - 2200. I've been playing with the new Mars V2 for a couple of weeks now on a Donic Burn Off- blade. The weight of the rubber is slightly heavier than the European rubbers I normally play with, but it's not as heavy as Tenergy. The sponge looks somewhat similar to the Tenergy sponge and feels like it's about the same hardness. The throw angle of this rubber is a medium throw, and the speed is average for a Chinese rubber. I was able to brush loop with the rubber, and found it to play pretty good from close to mid distance, but would not recommend this rubber for further away. Pushing was easy with the rubber, and blocking/hitting was also pretty easy. Overall I give this rubber a good review and feel it's definitely worth the price tag. It's not a Tenergy substitute as it doesn't have near the speed/high throw angle of the Tenergy rubber, but it's a good quality rubber that I would recommend for players from beginner up through intermediate players.

Good for the price. This is the poor man's Xiom Omega IV (a little slower, a little less spinny, and a little less control, less durable, quite inexpensive at $9). On my TBS, JM and Korbel it plays almost like Xiom Omega IV. However, if you are looking for a T64 clone, look elsewhere :) Lao Bao said this on September 5, 2011:
Soft Mars 2 (34-35 d) play exactly like Xiom Omega IV Europe when put on Korbel. Sponge varies from 33 to 41 degree, with the exception of 40, thickness can also be whatever you like - from 1.8 to 2.3. Topsheet is slightly fragile but clear and translucent. A very good rubber for the price wm7789 said this on December 10, 2011:
this is good rubber for looping, used t05 before (to high of a throw angel on photino) i quote galaxy product description
- Galaxy Mars V2, Lowest throw, offensive rubber, controlled version of Butterfly Tenergy 64! not sure if that description accurate. i never used t64. all i can say i works better for me on phontino blade. low throw angel. very fast, easy to loop, blocking loops are easy, counterloop needs a little extra effort if you try to counter loop a heavy spinny loop due to the lower throw angel. i am using 33degree sponge, i got both 2.3mm and 2.0mm, at $17.99 a sheet it quite a good product. i tried 2.0mm fh and bh on my t8. the blade is to hard or the sponge is to soft, not ideal to loop with that combo. seguso said this on February 13, 2012:
Tried Mars2 34 max on a stiga offensive CR. on the other side there was a NEO hurricane 3 tuned with baby oil and goo-gone.
Result: the mars 2 is much faster than the tuned H3 NEO, both in kill shots and in passive shots. Mars 2 is almost like a tensor in speed and springiness, but not quite. Then I detached Neo H3 and put a sword hero FT black on the other side. Result: Hero ft is even faster, higher throw, and spinnier. Mars2 34 is softer though, so it could be better for backhand. The rubber seemed spinny but less than a spinny tensor like xiom vega pro. The throw was slightly lower than H3. It should be lower than Vega pro. I'd say the throw is medium. completely nontacky. topsheet hardness is medium, so it can be used on backhand. Gears: good. not like a tensor, but more than a classical Chinese rubber. This rubber is fast in passive shots, and has a noticeable kick in power loops. Again, almost a tensor. Arise said this on December 2, 2012:
I use a black rubber 34°, it's harder than the Focus 3 Snipe and better in many things. It's completly no tacky but the spin is quite good like the control and the speed. It's not the best in anything but neather the worst, for 10 dollars is a good choise

Hardness 35 degrees on red and black for my testing. Medium-heavy weight by my judgement.
Comes factory-tuned so need to remove plastic cover from the sponge side to expose the factory-applied glue and let it air for a few minutes before applying. Rubber is quite hard and completely non-tacky in my opinion. Tenergy-esque in that respect. Good speed and spin is OK (non-tacky so a bit less), with a good level of control also. Throw angle I found to be medium-low so need to aim a bit higher compared to some others I used or drives can end up in the net. Blocking was also quite good with the medium sponge giving it enough kick without playing a stroke. Pushing and chop serves were OK, but lack some bite due to non-tacky surface. |
