Double Fish Carbon

Review of Double Fish CarbonThis is a nice priced, quality carbon blade with a near "standard" head size. It is not super fast/uncontrollable. It is relatively light. The one thing I should mention is that the handle is relatively small-it works well for me, but if you like a large handle then this blade is not for you.Apr 11, 2013

Dr. Neubauer Barricade DEF

Review of Dr. Neubauer Barricade DEFThis is the slowest and softest blade I have ever used. I eventually traded it. It may work for a totally passive close the the table blocking game, but I don't think any rubber you put on it could hit an outright winner against anyone rated 1500 USATT. Expensive, but nice workmanship. Modern defenders should not waste their time or money on this one.Nov 15, 2009

Friendship/729 Bomb

Review of Friendship/729 BombThis is a very good offensive blade. You can spend a lot more, but I don't think one can gain a lot. I have used this as an off the table fh topspin and bh chopping blade and it was a little too fast for that, but would be an excellent 2 wing looping blade from off the table and also good short game and close to the table play.Mar 31, 2008

Friendship/729 Hao Shuai Champion Carbon
Review of Friendship/729 Hao Shuai Champion CarbonGood control. Not as fast as you think, but plenty fast with the right rubber. Light. This is a high quality blade. I use a fast rubber on the BH (non-carbon) side and a medium rubber on the carbon FH side and it works well. Head is minimally oversized, but bigger than some other standard blades I have.May 01, 2013
Galaxy (Yinhe/Milkyway) (3)

Galaxy LQ-2
Review of Galaxy LQ-2This is a very nice blade for defensive play. It has a large, long head and is well made. The head is likely too large if one played max thickness inverted on both sides as it would be extremely heavy. The long head and flex make it a very good blade for combo players-you can loop very nicely with it. The blade is probably not for close to the table LP pushblocking-best for off the table playEdit-I recently bought a 2nd blade as a backup. Unfortunately almost 1.5 to 2 years later and the new blade is lighter (9 grams) and signficantly slower and the handle is somewhat shorter. Lesson to self-buy two at the same time to help with variations. Apr 05, 2011

Galaxy LQ-1
Review of Galaxy LQ-1Very nice defensive blade for off the table defense. Harder and not as good for hitting with LP (or hardbat if that is your style) than the LQ2. A better close to the table block w LP than the LQ2 blade imo. You can speed it up and slow it down somewhat based on what you use. A little heavier than my LQ2 blades. Great quality. I have the straight handle. Blocks nicely with my LP on BH when I get caught at the table. The weight on mine is more like 90 grams. Am I the only one using this blade????Sep 16, 2010

Galaxy DE-1
Review of Galaxy DE-1This is a very nice defensive blade. It controls well. The arylate dampens the ball and allows good control and good speed. I play with gambler outlaw on FH and the speed to good-not super fast, but fast enough. It is relatively light and allows me to move very quickly. It is lighter and slower than the LQ1 and 2 and has a smaller head size. Very good quality. For an off the table defender wanna be like me I highly recommend it. It may not be hard enough for a LP OX blocking game at the table if your goal is big spin reversal. I think a 2 sided inverted player who wanted control would also be well served by this blade, but not a high level 2 winged looper. I have 2 blades that are not sealed and 1 that is lightly sealed. For the above features this is a definite BUY!Feb 04, 2012

Gambler Oversize Kevlar
Review of Gambler Oversize KevlarThis is an oversize blade, similar in size to the toxic series. The handle is a little bigger and probably better for big handed players. The flared handle is smaller and works much better for me. This is one of the slowest blades I have ever played with in terms of control, but does not have high vibration like toxic 3 or neubauer barricade. Unlike those blades the kevlar allows one to attack to some degree. Certainly if one wants to play the modern defender game this blade will work with a fast rubber on the FH side. The only problem is that one needs a fast, but lighter in weight rubber-since a thick sponge makes the setup heavy. I originally used 729 highpoint on 2.2 sponge (155 grams with my OX long pips), but more recently have really found this blade plays well with both galaxy venus, dawei inspirit quattro and best of all with joola green energy. This is by far the best combination defensive blade-chopper and forehand attacking blade I have ever used and believe me I have tried a lot. I see no reason to try anything else.May 02, 2008

LKT Toxic 3
Review of LKT Toxic 3Very slow, high vibration blade. Its the lowest cost slow blade I have used. You won't be hitting many loopkill winners with it, however you may be getting your opponents loopkills back at them.Dec 07, 2011

Nittaku Kim Kyung Ah

Review of Nittaku Kim Kyung AhThis is an excellent, high quality oversize blade. Great feel, heavy feedback. Pairs well with razka 7 for FH rubber (I doubt it would work well with a tacky chinese rubber). Highly recommend for choppers and off the table defense.Sep 30, 2012
