Review of Dawei 388BA very soft, super grippy short pip, comparable to the almost tacky pips like Stiga Radical and Andro Revolution COR pips. Very spinny over the table with remarkable spin for a short pip. Great for someone coming to short pips from tacky Chinese rubber, but converse is that you need to adjust blade angle more to compensate for incoming spin.

Review of Dawei 388B-1Same topsheet as 802-40 but softer and dynamic Dawei sponge makes this a great rubber for a pips out attacker who still wants to generate some spin. Good for those coming from inverted rubber.

Review of DHS C7Medium pip with stiff, hard and broad pips. Good for attacking, blocking and chopping, more versatile than 563 for those coming from short pips, but not very deceptive.

Review of Friendship/729 802Great rubber for the fast attack blocker and hitter, spin depends on the sponge, softer and thicker allows surprising spin, while harder and thinner means less susceptibility to spin. Blocks very well and hits even better.
As it's less spinny than rubbers like 802-40 and 388B it takes more getting used to if coming from inverted.

Review of Friendship/729 802-40The best short pips rubber for someone coming from inverted rubber. Very spinny for short pips, can actually loop with it. Conversely, it doesn't have some of the advantages of less spinny pips in blocking, producing dead balls, and hitting through spin. Sponge makes a difference, so pay attention to the sponge that comes with it. Globe 889-2, Juic Patisuma and Dawei 388B-1 along with Hallmark Magic Pips and Dr. N. Tornado Ultra have almost identical topsheets to 802-40.

Review of Friendship/729 802-1I got this expecting something a little less spinny than 802. In fact, at least in black it is a little more spinny than 802 in red and is just a little less spinny than 802-40. Blocking control is the best of any offensive pips I've tried and it is my current short pip of choice. I wouldn't call it deceptive though.

Review of Friendship/729 799One of the best "raw pips" for someone who like soft short to medium pips with a bit more attacking possibilities than Pluto but less deception. Great for a blocking and hitting game.

Review of Galaxy PlutoGreat short to medium pip for those who want to block, roll and produce dead balls. Almost like a long pip in how much trouble it gives people but takes patience to master. Check legality on the ITTF list.

Review of Galaxy UranusVery fast, high throw rubber, performs similarly to Raystorm or Spectol. Alows higher arced loops. Great option for someone who wants a Japanese style short pips for less money, but they don't work for my game. Check about legality with the ITTF.

Review of Hallmark Magic PipsIdentical topsheet to 802-40, but a cheap Chinese HRS sponge led to this being an overpriced dud.

Review of JOOLA SnabbVery consistent short pips, great for opening but not quite as good for blocking. Good spin over the table and plenty of finishing power. Medium low throw, so better on a higher throw blade. Harder sponge than usual on short pips, so very good feel and control.

Review of Juic Patisuma 2A version of 802-40 with a hard sponge. I tried this in max sponge, tuned version and it was faster than I needed (I usually use 1.6-1.8 sponge) but it definitely supplied extra options away from the table.

Review of Stiga RoyalVery fast and flat playing short pips. I found this hard to control on a fast blade, even in 1.8 sponge. Spectol and Snabb allow more arc and 802 and variants allow more control. Not for me, but might be good for someone using a slower blade.

Review of TSP SpectolIf paired with the right blade, this is an amazing rubber. the high speed and throw means a lack of control if you match it wrong though. Smaller pips means high speed and enough spin. Still the rubber of choice for the majority of world class short pips hitters.

Review of TSP Spectol SpeedGreat rubber for off the bounce hitting and blocking from close to the table. The medium hard sponge means you can use thinner and still have plenty of power. I understand that this is the version used by top players. Be prepared, this is a very high performance rubber, especially on a fast blade.

Review of TSP TyrannoFeels like speedglued Spectol with more stability in the short game and a lower throw. Great rubber for those who want to take a step or two back and rip the ball. A little harder to do medium speed shots, like the roll, but more power on loops and smashes.

Review of Yasaka Original (T-Version)A good hitting pips able to create slightly more spin than TSP Spectol but not quite as fast. The medium sponge and thicker topsheet seem to work better speedglued. Toshio Tasaki's choice as one of the hardest pehnhold hitters ever.
