Andro Roxon 450

Review of Andro Roxon 450A new generation of tensor rubbers aimed to solve the problems of the old generation of tensor rubbers : poor short game and poor durability. This rubber is among the most spinny compared to other tensors since its very lightly tacky. I reckon its a hair spinnier than Platin and about the same as Zeta. A NEW roxon 450 has incredible speed (as tensors do) and a very good rebound effect (less than previous tensors for better short game though). Slower than the Plasma, but still very fast. The short game is improved, but still nowhere as good as classic rubbers imo. Blocking with this rubber when paired with the right blade (i believe any hard outer plied blade will do) is incredible and imo the best aspect from this rubber. Fast drives are also good. Other things are all pretty good but nothing special. However, even though durability has been improved such that the sheet of rubber isn't torn easily, the bounciness of the rubber is obviously less den before after a while (dependent on skill level of user). It is still playable by players whose skill level is not that high yet, but then again, if one's skill level isn't high, i would suggest a slower rubber for a better short game. If i was made of money this would be a good rubber. In short, its almost a typical tensor and for you to decide if you want it. Jun 13, 2009

Friendship/729 729-2 Sensor

Review of Friendship/729 729-2 SensorSpeed and Spin and Control is rated without speed glue in comparision to other rubbers without speed glue. I would rate Tenergy as 9.5 or 10 for spin and NEW hard tensors as 9.5 0r 10 for speed. The Tackiness of the rubber is obvious especially for the black one. However, this is only there initially. The tackiness disappears after time, and the rubber becomes a grippy one that NEVER STALLS on me before. (Unlike even roxon or an old sriver). I rate the sponge hardess as medium compared to other Chinese rubbers. Its pretty hard compared to tensors (yes, even the so-called hard sponged Roxon 500 kind). What i like about this rubber is the excellent control and many gears it has. I think it misses a top gear that would be there if you speed-glued it, but its sufficient when combined with a fast blade close distance to mid distance. One would have to generate his own power to take full advantage of this rubber. A very durable rubber at a cheap price. Outstanding control. Definitely more than a match for srivers to me. (not for those looking for extremely fast speed-glue effect rubber - this rubber doesn't have any) Jun 13, 2009

Friendship/729 804 (Anti-spin)

Review of Friendship/729 804 (Anti-spin)I just want to let potential buyers know that this rubber is widely known as "half anti" in China.Because its "half anti", it actually does not excel at being anti or normal inverted rubbers. I personally won't recommend this - you either go anti or inverted.. why half? Well, someone might like it though.. Jun 16, 2009

Palio CJ8000 Biotech 39-41°

Review of Palio CJ8000 Biotech 39-41°The old (and famous) palio CJ8000 topsheet over the new biotech sponge. This rubber was made for the glue ban but to those looking for a tensor like feel - this is way off one. It cracks pleasantly when looping hard and thats about all you get. Still a good improvement over old models though. Whats special about this rubber is that despite it only being "slightly tacky", it produces extreme amount of spin via its excellent grip on the topsheet. It serves as well as any tacky topsheet, and loops as spinnily as any rubber sheet (imo, even tenergy 05). Another good point is its control during looping. This rubber is extremely easy to loop with (whether lifting backspin or loopdriving topspin). I felt i could loop all day with this rubber. The bad news : this rubber isn't fast. One would need to pair it with a fast blade and generate his own power (especially on moves like punchblocking). It misses the top gear or 2 when its not glued. Its extremely grippy topsheet means that one has to be careful with serve receive. Its very cheap though. I'd recommend it for people skilled enough to avoid the cons and likes the pros of the rubber. Definitely not for professionals though - i think its too slow. Jun 13, 2009

Xiom Omega 2 Asian
|

Review of Xiom Omega 2 AsianThis rubber is extremely fast - the fastest of the Omega series. While it claims to have a hard sponge, i find it around the same as the Roxon 450, and much softer than typical chinese rubbers. This is especially obvious after some usage of the rubber whereby the initial pumped up bounciness of rubber making it feel harder disappears. This is simply the fastest rubber i've tried. (there is NO comparision with Tenergy - 64, 05 or 25). It smacks extremely well but i find it lacking in the loop department. Spin isn't there. Im not sure who would suit it. Probably i fast forehand minded player or a J-pen player? I agree with Geko below me. Try it before you buy. Its not for everyone. Jun 13, 2009
